Rotarian and State Representative Dennis Powers introduced Poston, highlighting some of his career points.

Poston has been an educator in the county for 52 years and “has improved the lives of many Campbell County Children,” according to Powers.

Over the years Poston has served in many educational roles in the county, including teaching at Pinecrest, serving as a long-term principal at Valley View Elementary, serving as Director of Schools for Campbell County and much more.

Campbell County Christian Academy Director Donnie Poston guest spoke at Tuesday’s Campbell County Rotary Club meeting.

“He is still improving the lives of children today as the director of Campbell County Christian Academy,” Powers said.

Poston spoke about the school being recently re-established and how the past 34 days have gone. Currently there are 42 students enrolled at the Campbell County Christian Academy.

“There has been around a half a million dollars spent in renovation on the school through private donations; we have been so blessed in that regard,” Poston said.

The school is open for Pre-K through Sixth grade and operates on a standard 8am to 3pm school day. The Christian Academy uses the “ABEKA Curriculum” and has “certified teachers.”

“We have some great teachers. I would put our staff up against any of them.

I’ve heard them say that it’s like going back and teaching the old-fashioned way. The classes are small, and we can meet the needs one on one with our small student to teacher ratio,” Poston said.

The Christian Academy originally started in 1992 and operated till 2017, before being recently being reestablished under the new name of the Campbell County Christian Academy.

State Representative and Rotarian Dennis Powers introduced Campbell County Christian Academy Director Donnie Poston as Tuesday’s guest speaker at the Campbell County Rotary Club meeting and luncheon.

“It’s a special place and does special work that is needed in this area. We saw the need to get it up and running again,” Poston said, adding that a “Christian education is very real, very important and my personal opinion is every child needs a Christian education,” Poston said.

“Our tuition price is competitive with other Christian Schools. Parents think they cannot afford it, but we do have financial assistance for kids,” Poston said.

The Christian Academy uses a tuition assistance program that allows families to pay different amounts based upon financial need and therefore all families are encouraged to apply for financial assistance to determine the exact tuition plan. The school uses the “FACTS Grant and Aid program to verify each family’s situation and recommend an award amount.”

The Campbell County Christian Academy can hold up to 175 children and according to Poston, the plan is to add seventh grade curriculum next year and eighth grade curriculum the year after.

“Campbell County needs this school; we need a Christian School with a strong academic background. We are blessed with good quality teachers. Education doesn’t come from behind the desk, it comes from behind the heart,” Poston said.
