Rev. Leonard Eugene (Gene) Morrison age 86 of LaFollette

Rev. Leonard Eugene (Gene) Morrison age 86 of LaFollette passed away from this life into his heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on Friday July 24, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard C. and Vera Morrison, son Darren L. Morrison, five brothers, Dwayne, Robert, Willie, Elwyn, and Kenneth, one sister, Helen. and great grandson Bryson. Gene graduated from High School in Manson, WA., from college in Wenatchee, WA before entering and serving in the US Army. Gene and Joyce were married in Louisville, KY May 7th 1965. They moved to Utica MI in 1972 and then to Jamestown, ND where he pastored the church. From there they moved to Bismark, ND to help assist in the church for a number of years and also assisted in other churches Fargo, ND, Williamsburg, KY, Sioux Falls, SD and he then graduated from Meat Cutter’s College in Pipestone, MN before moving to LaFollette in July 1990. He retired from Save-a-lot stores both LaFollette and Clinton, TN. He was a faithful member of First Apostolic Church of LaFollette since 1990 and also attended other churches Faithway Assembly of God, West Walden Street Church of God and 13th Street Church of God which he enjoyed fellowshipping with. He loved to preach the word of God and to sing and did for many to hear. He also enjoyed working in his garden and especially growing peanuts.

Wife: Joyce Harris Morrison

Sons: David and wife Shannon and Daniel and wife Angel

Daughter: Denise Baird and husband Jake

Sister: Karen Joyner and husband Hershel of Manson, WA

11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a host of other family members and good friends.

Family will receive friends from 5-7PM Monday July 27, 2026 at Cross-Smith Funeral Home

Funeral services to follow at 7 PM Cross-Smith Chapel with 

Rev Audie Miracle, Rev Jeff Moses, Rev Steve Green, and OD Muse officiating.

Family and friends will meet 10 Am Tuesday July 28 at Cross-Smith Funeral home and proceed to Powell Valley Cemetery for 11 AM interment.
