A public hearing begins at 5:30pm Tuesday at City Hall followed by the regular monthly meeting

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Approval of a permanent partial closure to Church Street in north La Follette is on the agenda and will be voted upon at Tuesday’s regular monthly council meeting for the City of La Follette. Prior to that vote, a public hearing on the Church Street matter is set for 5:30pm Tuesday at City Hall.

Church Street runs along the railroad tracks between Nevada Avenue and West Iron Street.
This is the West Iron Street side of Church Street.

“The road (Church Street) is in bad shape, deteriorating, and probably three-fourths of it is on the railroad right of way,” said Casey Boshears, City of La Follette Public Works Director. This permanent partial closure will not affect the two residence that are on the street, according to Boshears. Boshears goes on to say that the street will be closed past their driveways to Nevada Avenue. “They’ll will still be able to access their houses from the Iron Street side,” said Boshears.
