Friday is short practice day for Campbell after preseason scrimmages conclude
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell held its own in Thursday’s third and final scrimmage that came against perennial state power Greeneville. The Greene Devils won 14-7 as time ran out on a promising Campbell drive.
“We’ll do some things, watch some film and maybe do some special teams and things of that nature; maybe a little bit of team stuff,” said Campbell Head Coach Mark Pemberton of Friday’s abbreviated practice. The team will finish up at 3pm today so Pemberton and his coaching staff can go to Knoxville to watch Halls in its jamboree quarter.
“We’re starting to formulate a game plan for ’em (Halls),” said the veteran head football coach.
“We’re going shorter today so we can get ’em outta here, because we have a big work week ahead next week,” said Pemberton.
Thursday’s scrimmage at Carson-Newman’s Burke-Tarr Stadium was the final game action before scores really matter. Campbell hosts Halls in the first game of the season on Friday, August 23rd at Reynolds Field with kick-off at 7pm.
