Residents discuss the matter at Thursday’s Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting
JACKSBOROI, TN (WLAF)- Some residents of the Sharp Acres neighborhood were present at Thursday night’s monthly meeting of the Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The residents were there to discuss a petition that is being circulated by another resident to place a modular home in the neighborhood.
The residents reported that the deeds for the properties in the neighborhood have restrictions against modular homes. Mayor Shayne Green told the residents the town cannot enforce subdivision restrictions according to MTAS. The area is zoned as R1 which means the modular home could be placed. Green told the residents they would need to pursue the matter with the planning commission which had met prior to the meeting. However Green said he would contact Jack Cannon and request he schedule another planning commission meeting as soon as possible to discuss the issue.
The board approved a $1,500 donation to the Jacksboro Cemetery, which the town does yearly. The board accepted the resignation of Animal Control Officer Dewey Madison and the hiring Ira “TJ” Bolinger as the new Animal Control Officer for the town. Korri Petry was approved as a substitute librarian for the town.
Purchasing a Kenwood radio for the fire department pick up truck in the amount of $3,945 was approved. The board approved soliciting bids for four sets of turn out gear for auxiliary fire fighters.
Installation of a fence around the ball court at Bill Robinson Park was approved in the amount of $6,849 from Pioneer Fence Company. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/02/2025-6AM)
