‘Nancy is a very talented, creative person’- Connie Greiner with UT Extension of Campbell County

JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- Friday was the marking of a milestone for Caryville native Nancy Martin (photo above). Martin has achieved a special 50th year milestone in the Tennessee Association of Family & Community Education (TAFCE).

Martin joined Family and Community Education (FCE) in 1974 after moving back home from Ohio. She is a member of the Well Springs FCE Club in Campbell County and has contributed a tremendous amount of volunteer hours over the years to help individuals and families in her community, according to Connie Greiner, Family & Consumer Sciences Agent III with the UT Extension of Campbell County.
“Nancy has won many state and regional awards for her cultural art entries, including basketry, beadwork, ceramics, hand embroidery, fine arts painting, hand stitching, photography, repurposing, and woodworking throughout her club membership. She has also instructed basketry workshops,” said Greiner.
TAFCE is today’s version of the long ago Home Demonstration Club. This is a volunteer organization that is under the UT Extension of Campbell County umbrella, and Greiner is the advisor to TAFCE.
When asked if Martin was retiring, Greiner excitedly said “hopefully no time soon”. “Nancy is still very active and volunteers wherever she is needed. She’s so caring and generous and is very consistent,” said Greiner.
Greiner extends a thank you to Nancy for her time and commitment toward helping others. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-01/28/2025-6AM-PHOTO SUBMITTED)
