Murdis Phillips, age 76 of Rocky Top, born March 13, 1949 went to his eternal resting place on April 12, 2025. He is preceded in death by father, Rev. Flem Phillips; mother, Dora Phillips; and children, Murdis Daniel Phillips, and Dale Ray Phillips; siblings, Mary Elenor Lindsey, Betty Stooksbury, Lonas Phillips, Junior Phillips, Calvin Phillips, and Dennis Phillips; and grandchild, Lois Phillips.

He is survived by; siblings, Mary Morales of Caryville TN, Harry Phillips of Clinton TN, Eli Phillips of Norris TN, Johnny Phillips of Rocky Top TN, and James Phillips of Griffith IN; children, Curtis Lee Phillips, and Emma Jay Phillips; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Damion Russell, Dale Ray Jr. Phillips and wife Bethany Phillips, and their daughter, Bailey Phillips; Dustin Phillips and wife Taylor Joanna Gail Phillips and their daughter, Aurora Kingsleigh Phillips; Kim Phillips and her children Brandon, Nevaeh, Ethan & Christian Phillips; Danielle Phillips & her children, Tyler & Katie Jackson; and Bella Jordon; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Murdis loved watching westerns, fishing, and spending time with family & grandchildren. He had a larger-than-life personality. He loved to tell grand stories about life, only to be topped by the stories he loved to tell of his beloved Jesus Christ with whom he had a lifelong relationship. His life was complicated and sometimes hard but his faith was always strong.
