Near Norris Lake is where a fire was reported just after 1am Friday

A windy morning did not help firefighters in their efforts.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A fire broke out in the wee hours of Friday morning in the Alder Springs Community, and multiple agencies responded. Firefighters with Campbell Rural Fire Service and assistance from La Follette Fire Department firefighters answered the 1:19am call. The State Forestry Service soon followed with personnel.

Behind 305 Dogwood Acres is where firefighters are battling the blaze. Reports coming from the scene are that the size of the fire is about three acres. Though it’s not easy to determine in the darkness.

“The wind picked up blowing leaves which didn’t help. We were able to get a line around the fire to slow it down. Though the fire did become larger,” said Captain Daniel Lawson with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service.

CCRFS had three trucks on scene while LFD brought in its brush fire truck. The Forestry Service is using a dozer to assist.

Homes were kept save in the neighborhood that’s above Springs Dock.

The fire service snuffed out a car fire before 10pm Thursday in the Glade Springs Community. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-11/01/2024-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF CAPTAIN DANIEL LAWSON)
