Bid accepted with paving of Beech Street to begin ASAP

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Bids for the Beech Street paving project were accepted at yesterday afternoon’s LaFollette City Council meeting. The cost of the project is $508,450 and is slated to start as soon as possible.

The recreation department has a new interim director retroactive Sept. 1, Chris Smith is a 16 year veteran of the department. Jeremy Morris was hired as a full-time laborer effective Sept. 7.

Ordinance 2024-08 amending the City of LaFollette Personnel Policy as it pertains to vacation time taken by fire department employees had a final reading. Ordinance 2024-09 amending Title 5 Municipal Finance and Taxation Section 505 had a final reading. The ordinance changes how the city advertises for bids allowing for a wider range of advertising options.   Resolution 2024-15 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in PEP Risk Management Pool (Property Conservation) matching grant program was approved. Resolution 2024-16 amending the 2024-25 budget was also approved.

In administration matters the council approved an event permit for Coolidge Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. They accepted two bids for the Home Grant program, the first bid is for a new stick-built structure house from David Clark Construction, the second bid is for a new mobile home from Clark Brother Construction that will replace an existing mobile home.
