Lt. Donald Wayne Baird THP age 69, of Clinton, Tn, went to be with the Lord on Saturday August 16, 2025. He was born on August 13th, 1956, in Fort Worth Texas and was a 1974 graduate of LaFollette High School.

Preceded in death by father, James Noah “JN” Baird, and mother, Thelma Jean Baird

Survived by wife, Monica Asbury Baird. Daughter, Christina Ann Garner and husband Gary Garner, of Greenback, TN., Son, Anthony Wayne Baird, of Commerce, Georgia.

Don served his state and community with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, until his retirement in 2013 to later join the U.S. Marshal Service at Knoxville’s Federal Court House. He loved being a public servant and building long lasting friendships with those he served both co-workers, and the public.

Some of his greatest accomplishments were bringing D.A.R.E. to East Tennessee and educating kids in safety. He had a heart for children and every Christmas during his years with the THP he held an annual bicycle giveaway to underprivileged kids. He loved his family and friends, while often playing practical jokes on them. One of the biggest hobbies was working on his 1973 Pontiac Grand AM and going to car shows. He loved his fur babies (Pomeranians), Jack, Minnie, and Koda.

Don will always be remembered for his warm smile, random jokes, and genuine care for others.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday August 23, 2025, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Cross-Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow Officiated by Dr. Tony Slay and Dr. John Pearson. Family and friends will meet at 10:00AM Sunday August 24, 2025, at Cross-Smith Funeral Home to proceed to Campbell Memorial Gardens for an 11:00AM Graveside and Interment Service with Honors provided by the THP Honor Guard.
