One arrest made at La Follette, the other at Caryville

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Friday afternoon, La Follette Police Narcotic Det. Noah Riggs was on routine patrol when he spotted a man suspected of trafficking narcotics. Riggs was aware of the man’s activity through a narcotic investigation.

Delbert Bolton was driving his green Ford pick-up truck toward La Follette near the ice house when he caught the officer’s eye. Through research, Riggs learned that Bolton’s driver’s license was revoked due to a DUI and that he was currently on Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC) probation for schedule II drugs.

Riggs made a traffic stop on Bolton at the NAPA Auto Parts parking lot. Bolton was placed under arrest for driving on a revoked license.

Before placing Bolton in the police cruiser, the officer allegedly found a baggie of suspected Meth in Bolton’s right jean watch pocket. Riggs then searched the truck where a set of black digital scales with a crystal-like substance on them was found in the bed of the truck, the report said.

LPD Officer Joe Hicks transported Bolton for booking at the Campbell County Jail at Jacksboro.

During the investigation, Riggs learned that Bolton was staying at the Tennessee Motel at Caryville; room 28. Riggs suspected Bolton was selling narcotics from that location. Caryville Police Detective Jacob Fox and Riggs confirmed that Bolton and a female were paying for room 28 and had been there for about a couple of weeks.

The detectives found Shonda Davis in room 28. Riggs found through dispatch that Davis had a TDOC warrant violation stemming from the sale of Meth.

The officers searched the room. A baggie containing a crystal-like substance was recovered from Davis’s purse. In plain view on the nightstand were two digital scales, with a crystal-like substance on the scales. A glass bowl with white powder and burn marks on the bowl were allegedly discovered. Several baggies, similar to the baggie Bolton had, were found.

A tied corner baggie holding a crystal-like substance, near the ceiling tile, was found. Both Bolton and Davis denied that was theirs.
