Two arrests made during routine traffic stop

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Two Caryville men remain behind bars this morning on a combined 24 charges. Once James Brock was pulled over by La Follette Police for an expired registration, it was all down hill for Brock and his passenger, Ronald Poore.

Friday morning, just before noon, LPD Officer Christian Southern stopped Brock as he drove his 1997 red Chevrolet S10 pick-up truck along East Central Avenue heading into town. A registration showing expired since 2024 prompted the traffic stop.

Brock was unable to provide proof of valid insurance or a drivers license. Officer Southern confirmed that Brock’s drivers license status was suspended with five prior offenses.

Officer Southern placed Brock under arrest and transported him to the Campbell County Jail. On the way to Jacksboro, the officer noticed Brock was moving around in a way that appeared he was trying to hide something or dispose of something and also heard the sound of a cellophane wrapper being wadded up or opened. Brock was ordered to stop and told the officer that he “wasn’t doing anything”, based on the police report.

Before getting to the jail, Brock allegedly openly admitted that he was attempting to dispose of Methamphetamine, according to the police report. Officer Southern opened the back door to the cruiser where Brock was sitting and found an empty cellophane wrapper with what appeared to be meth poured out in the seat and in the floorboard.

During the booking process, Brock was found to be in possession of a separate bag of crystal substance/white powder believed to be Heroin or Methamphetamine, detailed in the officer’s report.

Poore, who was riding with Brock, was checked through the police records system. It turned out that Poore was wanted on 16 outstanding warrants for his arrest. He, too, was booked into the county jail.

Brock, 54, of 182 Rocky Lane- Caryville, was charged with driving with expired registration, failure to provide proof of insurance, driving while revoked/suspended/cancelled with priors, possession of schedule I and II, tampering with evidence, introduction of contraband into a penal facility and reckless endangerment.

The other man arrested, Poore , 30, of 350 Waddell Lane- Caryville is facing 16 outstanding warrants for his arrest that include evading arrest by a motor vehicle (two counts), driving with license revoked/suspended/cancelled , reckless aggravated assault, failure to exercise due care, failure to provide proof of insurance, leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, driving on the right side of the roadway, reckless endangerment, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, aggravated assault-serious bodily injury, driving with expired registration, use of off-road vehicle on a highway, failure to wear safety equipment (helmet), criminal impersonation and a hold for another agency.

Both Brock and Poore remain housed in the county jail this morning. Brock’s bond is $30,000 secure. The bond for Poore is $150,000 secure. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/01/2025-6AM)
