Two homes damaged, one person injured in Belle Meade neighborhood
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- A strong thunderstorm swept through Campbell County around 3:30 Monday morning leaving damage in its path. La Follette Fire and Police were called out around 3:40am to a home on Mullis Trail and another up the street on Donna Lane.
Initial reports are that a tree caught fire at the Mullis Trail home triggering a gas line rupture under the house. It was determined, that there was so much energy with the lightning strike to the tree, its roots triggered the problem with the nearby gas line, according to one official.
The back side of the Donna Lane home suffered fire damage around the heating and cooling unit. It’s not been confirmed if the Donna Lane incident is directly related to the one down the hill on Mullis Trail.
At 4am, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in front of the Donna Lane home. La Follette Fire first responders and Campbell EMS responded. The patient was treated at the scene.
Technicians with Powell-Clinch Utility District (PCUD) responded checking out the area making sure everything was safe.(WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/31/2025-6AM)
