York completed the decathlon with 5,726 points

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Landon York, Campbell County High School track and field athlete and Milligan University signee, participated in the TSSAA state decathlon at Kirkwood High School in Clarksville on Wednesday and Thursday.

York performed extremely well, coming home with a 6th place overall finish.

In the pole vault, York jumped a height of 8 ft 6 inches. He then ran a 52.24 finishing second in the 400 meter race.

Up next came the triple jump, in which York leaped 39 ft 1 inch. In the discus throw, York hurled the discus 94 feet, 2 inches.

In the 100 meter sprint, York dashed for a time of 11.71 seconds.

York leaped 20 feet 10 inches in the long jump.

For the shot put, York put up a throw measuring 37 feet 2 inches. For the hurdles event of the decathlon, York finished with a blazing time of 15.07 seconds.

On the high jump, York apexed 5 feet 6 inches.

In the last and longest race, the 1500 meter, York finished with a time of 4 minutes and 59 seconds, good enough for 5th place in the long run.

After a strong showing, Landon York completed the decathlon with 5,726 points, which gave him a 6th overall finish.
