LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- The LaFollette Utility Board approved several resolutions, along with a property purchase during Monday’s workshop session and meeting.
First approved at Monday’s meeting was a Public Entity Partnership (PEP) Property Conservation matching Grant resolution.
This is something the utility applies for each year, according to LUB General Manager Regina Kennedy. The utility usually receives around $2,000 to use towards fencing and other property projects.
Also approved was a resolution authorizing loans from LUB’s 401 (k) plan for employees and allows employees to borrow from their own 401-(k) plans.
“We have had employees express an interest in having access to this; $50,000 is the max amount total, Kennedy said.
Other business approved on Monday evening included the $65,000 purchase of property in the White Oak area.
The board approved the purchase of the Marsee Property of 2.01 acres at $65,000.
“It adjoins our property in the Sweet Gum Flats area and joins our substation,” Kennedy said.
The property is in the White Oak area and will be used for expansion if ever needed, of the substation.
Kennedy also announced that LaFollette Utilities would be closed Sept. 2 in observation of the Labor Day holiday and the next regularly scheduled workshop and meeting is Mon., Sept. 30 at 6 pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED- 08/27/2024-6AM)
