LAFOLLETTE, TN. (WLAF)- On Tuesday afternoon the LaFollette City Council met for a budget workshop. Finance Director Terry Sweat started by reporting to the council the budget at this point is balanced.

He then told the council that all items except for three on the wish list were funded at this point. The items funded were two police vehicles ($162,000), radios ($8,000), Flock cameras ($18,750), paint for pickleball court ($6,900), fencing for basketball and pickleball ($23,000), outside basketball goal ($5,000) and two responder pickup trucks $107,236. Items that were not funded at this point were faster internet service for the library ($1,800), 2500 series truck-Silverado or Ford F250 ($48,000) and a new SUV for the city administrator ($42,000). These items were discussed with a possible funding source coming from the general fund balance. However, no decisions were made on these items.

The budget included a three percent raise for employees with a $1,500 bonus. Last year employees received a two and a half percent raise. The total of the proposed 2025-26 budget is $21,073,691.
