Campbell, without Jayden Kitts and Saylor Hutcheson, defeats Oneida 46-36

ONEIDA, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougars traveled up to Oneida minus Jayden Kitts and Saylor Hutcheson on Tuesday. Kitts was resting a battered-up shoulder, and Hutch is dealing with a lingering hamstring injury.
Campbell County would have to step up, and at first, it looked as if it would not. Campbell trailed Oneida 24-18 at halftime after Oneida scored 10 of the last 12 points of the half.
The Lady Cougars came out on fire in the second half, led in large part by the sophomore Preslee Chapman. Chapman, for the first time this season, started at point guard. This was easier said than done against the scrappy Lady Indians. However, Chapman found every open Lady Cougar on the court, and also had some big defensive plays.
This propelled Campbell to a gritty 46-36 victory at Oneida, outscoring the Lady Indians 28-12 in the second half.
The aforementioned Chapman, your Mills Door and More Lady Cougar of the Game, along with Lacey Pemberton led the scoring with 13 points apiece. Carley Kitts also reached double digits scoring eleven points, and Bella Lester rounded out the scoring column with nine points. Jayden Kitts and Saylor Hutcheson, as of right now, do plan to suit up for Friday’s game.
Up next for Campbell County is Senior Night. The Lady Cougars will have six seniors playing what could be their last home game. The opponent for Friday’s contest is the number one team in 3-A, the 23-2 Heritage Lady Mountaineers.
