Campbell 52 Powell 35

By Clayton Carroll

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- It was homecoming at Brown Gym on Friday night, and the Lady Cougars welcomed Powell, a team which they had beaten 34-24 earlier in the month.

The Lady Cougars dominated Powell in every aspect of the basketball game. At the end of the first quarter, Campbell County led 16-4. Campbell, after this, never let Powell cut it to less than a ten point game.

The Lady Cougars cruised to a 52-35 win. Campbell is now 17-3 on the year and 6-1 in district play. On Friday, the ladies in Orange-and-Blue clinched no worse than a two-seed in the district. This gives Campbell a first round bye in the district tourney, and an automatic region game.

Lacey Pemberton, once again, led scoring for Campbell with an impressive 18 points. She was the Mills Door and More Lady Cougar of the Game. Bella Lester, the 2025 Homecoming Queen, also totaled double digits, scoring 15. Preslee Chapman scored seven points. Reagan Davis tallied five. Carley Kitts finished with four points, and Aleah Woodson rounded out the score book with three points. Saylor Hutcheson, still battling a hamstring injury dressed but did not play due to precautionary measures. Jayden Kitts and Destiny Rutherford were big on the boards pulling down a combined 14 rebounds with Kitts raking away 10, neither scored.

Up next for the Lady Cougars is Halls. The Orange-and-Blue host the Lady Red Devils on Tuesday at 6pm over the WLAF Doyle’s Tire Sports Network which consists of AM 1450, FM 100.9, Alexa on your Amazon enabled devices, WLAF-TV 1089, 1450wlaf.com, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.
