JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- It was win or go home as Horace Maynard traveled to Jacksboro to battle the Eagles in the second round of the middle school playoffs.

Watch the game right HERE on demand.

JMS started strong by putting the first 16 points on the scoreboard. Fourteen of those came from Easton Ayers as he had two touchdown rushes, one being almost 25 yards and the other being close to a 50 yard house call. He also capped off that with a two point conversion run.

Thomas Wilson was responsible for the other Jacksboro two point conversion, as well as some powerful runs. Avander Demott and Max Stanfill also carried the rock well for the Eagles.

Jacksboro’s defense was the star of the show Thursday night, especially the line of Weston Kivett, Porter Bostic, and Jackson Noe.

Also up front on the offensive side of the football was Mason Wilson and Hunter Norman, Jaxon Owens, and James Walker.

Horace Maynard though was led by Benton Ford who had two long touchdown runs. Those runs were made possible by back to back onside kick recoveries.

Luckily the Jacksboro defense would not allow any more points, sending them to the state championship game.

Head Coach Cody Parker was beyond proud of his Eagle team for how they played Thursday and all year; and he is especially excited for the challenge that awaits on next Saturday. He likes having the “underdog mentality.”

That challenge is Yellow Jackets. The Cherokee Yellow Jackets that is. Cherokee defeated Jacksboro in the first game of the season 33-0 and are a perfect 9 and 0.

Saturday, Nov. 2, the Eagles and Yellow Jackets battle it out for an opportunity to hoist the gold ball, the state championship trophy. Kickoff is at noon, and Clayton Carroll, Robert Kirby, and Peyton Ferguson send you coverage beginning at 11:45 am over the WLAF Doyle’s Tire Sports Network. It’s a noon kick-off.
