Fred Ward, age 83, of Caryville, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Methodist Medical Center. He was born on January 20, 1942, to the late Pearley Ward and Dovie (Brock) Ward. He enjoyed ginseng, hunting, fishing, camping, being a prankster, and playing jokes on people.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Ray Ward, brothers Homer Ward and Jimmy Ward, and sisters Katie Sue Hale and Anna Lou McKamey.

Fred is survived by his wife of 48 years Oshia Ward of Caryville; daughter Stacy Marie Ward of Illinois; brothers Ray Ward and wife Kathy of Caryville and Hobart Ward and wife Sharon of Caryville; grandchildren Damon Ward and significant other Gabbie, Christopher Russell, Steven Ward, Natasha Ward, and Bailey Ward; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Bruce Wallace officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Bullock Cemetery for internment.
