JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- After three years, three attorneys and several court delays attorney Kevin Angel has pleaded guilty to stealing money from a client.
In May 2021, Angel was indicted on two counts of theft over $10,000. He was accused of stealing from a client who he was handling an estate manner for. CLICK HERE for more on the story.

Since that time, there have been numerous delays. In May, Angel and David Stuart, who represented Angel at one point, had a disagreement in front of Eighth Judicial District Criminal Court Judge Zach Walden. The two argued over trial strategy and Stuart said he wanted to withdraw from the case. Stuart was eventually allowed to withdraw even though a trial date was looming. Dennis Bailey was appointed as Angel’s attorney after Stuart was allowed to step away from the case.
An Aug. 28 trial date was set. Instead of going to trial, Angel retained T. Scott Jones to represent him and entered a guilty plea in court on Tuesday.
Agreeing he was guilty of two counts of theft over $10,000 Angel was sentenced to four years probation.
He also lost the privilege of practicing law “forever,” according to court records. Angel also had to pay $39,585.54 to the Tennessee Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection upon entering the plea. Restitution in the amount of $3,000 was also paid to the victim.
Angel is further responsible for court costs and will be randomly drug screened.
