Flags were placed at the graves of veterans at Powell Valley Cemetery & Memorial Gardens

Makenzie Kibler of Troop 435 places a flag on Bob Kibler’s grave. Bob is Makenzie’s grandfather, who was instrumental in the start of Troop 435 in the 1970s.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- Friday, 23, May, 1800 hours, the mission was underway as members of Troop 310, Troop 435, Pack 134 and members of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1148 converge on Powell Valley Cemetery & Memorial Gardens. The evening’s mission was placing an American flag at every veterans grave.

Tucker Benjamin of Pack 134 places a flag on General Carl Wade Stiner’s grave.

Scoutmaster Chris Thacker explains they cover the entire cemetery using a grid system, making sure each grid gets double coverage, making every effort to not miss a grave. 

 Veteran Ed Housley, President of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1148, presents Scoutmaster Chris Thacker with a $500 check as members of all the groups involved with the operation gather.

Veteran Ed Housley, President of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1148, said, between Bakers Forge Cemetery and Powell Valley Cemetery & Memorial Gardens, they will put out 1250 flags for Memorial Day.

Owen Dalgran of Pack 134, places a flag on Colonel Tommy C Stiner’s grave.
