During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, mammograms are 100% covered at La Follette Medical Ctr

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell County Government is teaming with La Follette Medical Center to “paint the town pink” all during October. Friday afternoon, under warm sunshine, on the courthouse grounds, quite a few folks gathered to recognize this special month.

“This is a time for us to pause from our activities and jobs and recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a disease that affects one in every eight women and takes one life of every 38. Early diagnosis is critical,” said Campbell County Mayor Jack Lynch.

Jessica Muse is the Chief Nursing Officer at the Tennova La Follette Medical Center shares information about breast cancer awareness.

“Breast cancer affects 2.3 million women worldwide, and 670,000 die each year,” said Jessica Muse. Muse is the Chief Nursing Officer at the Tennova La Follette Medical Center. Muse announced to the crowd that you can get a mammogram at La Follette Medical Center during October, and it is 100% covered. “Age 40 is when a woman should get her first mammogram, and the procedure is not as bad as before; not as painful.
