Goal is to have an empty shelter to accommodate animals that are flood victims from Hurricane Helene

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Do you recall the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons? Well guess who has arrived, Wylie.  This innocent, kind, shy, timid, treat lover is unlike his mischievous name’s sake. If only Wylie could tell us his story, it would be helpful for his healing.

Needless to say his timid and shyness are improving day by day thanks to the Campbell County Animal Shelter staff. Wylie will warm up to you with a treat. He is a scared dog, and it is not his fault, and changes immediately when shown affection but a caring human. He prefers a quiet setting so he can feel safe and his favorite thing is to lay down under his human’s legs for comfort and security.

Wylie has a magnificent traditional Shepard coat of tan, black and cream. He has long hair and requires brushing to manage his undercoat. He is low energy and does have a desire to walk, roam and possibly even run if he is side by side of a trusted human. If you have a home where you can spend time with this special love bug, teach him to trust and heal, then you will find that he will bloom into the dog he holds inside just waiting to come out. Wylie would love a forever home and then you will ask “Who rescued Who?”

The adoption center, animal shelter, is open Tuesday – Saturday, noon – 5:30pm, at 749 Towe String Road, Jacksboro, next to the convenience center. The center’s telephone number is 423-566-8018.

You can view all of the adoptable pets on Petfinder. Adoption applications can also be completed online.

Fees are waived on all animals until further notice. The shelter is working to empty the shelter in order to help those folks devastated by the flooding from Hurricane Helene.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/21/2024-6AM)
