JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Garrison Hayes led LaFollette Owls, 1 and 4 on the season, made the short trip to Gibson Field to take on the Cody Parker led Jacksboro Eagles, 4 and 1 for the year, in an annual clash known as the Egg Bowl.
The past three seasons the Eagles had their way; and that would be the case once again. For the first time this season, LaFollette was held scoreless. The Eagles defense quickly halted any progress the Owls made.
As for the Jacksboro offense, Jack Sexton, Avander Demott, and Thomas Wilson led the way once again for the Blue-and-Gold. Sexton had five rushing touchdowns, with Wilson scoring the other.
Demott was responsible for, on the offense side of the ball, a few long runs and successful two point conversions, and on defense some massive collisions with LaFollette Owls.
It wasn’t all negative for the Owls as the front line led by Darin Poor, Logan Kennedy, Brody Pierce, and Alex Gambill played very well for the majority of the game.
Another bright spot for LaFollette was kicker/defender Luca Simmons. Luca was responsible for a few very nice punts/kickoffs, as well as some defense hits.
After all was said and done, Jacksboro never let LaFollette make it a close game. The Eagles flew to a 44-0 victory, clinching the one seed in the district, and a first round bye in the playoffs.
Up next for both teams is a quick turnaround as both squads play on Thursday. For LaFollette it’s a trip to Garrison Hayes’s former squad, Lake City. Jacksboro travels for a tough road matchup at Oneida. Both games will start at 7pm.
