Secretary of State Tre Hargett, State Senator Ken Yager and State Representative Dennis Powers visit

Tre Hargett, Secretary of State (orange tie), State Representative Dennis Powers (right end of check) and State Senator Ken Yager (left end of check) were at the library on Tuesday, October 22, at 8:30am, to present a technology award in the amount of $3,119.00 to Library Director Nancy Green (center of check).

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- “What’s really important is the outpouring of support here. It really demonstrates how much the people here love their library in La Follette. Nancy does a fantastic job,” said Tre Hargett, Secretary of State. The secretary is referencing the La Follette Public Library and its director of more than 30 years, Nancy Green.

Early on Tuesday morning at the library, Hargett, along with State Senator Ken Yager and State Representative Dennis Powers, presented Green with a check for a technology award in the amount of $3,119.00. “It’s some of the tax money that goes to the State of Tennessee, and it’s coming back home. We’re delighted to play a part in making sure we have updated technology and updated software,” said Hargett.

Before Tuesday’s check presentation at the La Follette Public Library, Secretary of State Tre Hargett visited with Cyndi Russell, LaFollette Branch Manager of ORNL Federal Credit Union, and Missy Tackett. Tackett is the Executive Director of the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

“This is my first stop of the day, and I consider Campbell County my second home. I remember the first time I visited the La Follette Library some 15 years ago. Now days the function of the library is so vast,” said Yager. The veteran senator personally donated $250 to the library yesterday handing Green a check.

“I remember my very first library card. It was at the old library on South Tennessee Avenue, and Mrs. Pelizari (Connie) was the librarian. Nancy has done such a good job over the decades as our librarian and has completed many upgrades,” said Powers.
