Residents in V-More Estate were without water for a while on Wednesday and Thursday

A damaged fire hydrant beside this LUB truck caused a water outage.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- At least 40 LUB water customers were without water for much of Thursday, because a fire hydrant was damaged on Wednesday.

Wayne Ward, left, and Darrell Riggs are put pipe in place while standing in about a half foot of water.

The hydrant is located where Knoll Drive intersects with Meadow Lane in V-More Estate, behind the Krystal.

Mitch (The Man- The Myth- The Legend) Mullens works the backhoe.

“The hydrant was damaged by a mowing machine as we understand, and we thought we could isolate the repair to just the hydrant, but we were not able to do that. It forced us to turn off water to these folks around here to make the repair,” said Cobie Herrin, Superintendent of Water and Wastewater Operations.

Traffic was down to one lane around the work area.

Water service has been returned to the neighborhood, and a new fire hydrant (below) is already in place of the damaged hydrant.
