CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- As snow continues to drift down, area road crews are out working in the cold conditions.
But the roads are improving, according to Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck.
Starting early this morning road crews went to work. As of now “everything is improving,” according to Dilbeck. The main roads are “good”, and the secondary roads are being cleared for the second time, he said. The higher elevations haven’t been cleared yet, but Dilbeck intends to get to them as soon as possible.
In LaFollette, most of the main roads are in good shape with the back roads still being cleared, LaFollette Public Works Director Casey Boshears said. Garbage trucks are running but they are behind schedule due to the weather, he said
There have been no power outages, according to LaFollette Utilites Board General Manager Regina Kennedy. Crews are working today and are ready to respond to any emergency.
With even colder temperatures on the way, there will be a greater demand for heat. Doing “something small” such as lowering a thermostat one degree can make difference in a bill, she said.
