JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- County commissioners recognized the White Oak Boys and Girls Basketball teams with proclamations at Monday’s regular county commission meeting.

Commissioner Tyler King wrote the proclamation, and fifth district commissioners sponsored it.

County Mayor Jack Lynch read the proclamation honoring the girls’ basketball team on Monday declaring March 10th “Lady Wildcats Undefeated Repeat Championship Day.”

The team is coached by Jana Taylor.

The White Oak Lady Wildcats had an 8 and 0 season.

“They have demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork and determination throughout their remarkable 8 and 0 season. Their outstanding performance culminated in a thrilling championship win over Jellico,” Lynch said. He added that their achievement brings great pride to the school, the community and the entire county.”

This is the second year in a row they have won.

Coach Taylor said she was proud of the team.

“They make me look good,” Taylor said.

The White Oak Boys Wildcats small division champs were recognized next with County Mayor Lynch proclaiming Tuesday, March 11 as White Oak Wildcats Championship Day.

The boys had a 7 to 1 season, demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork and determination which culminated in a Championship victory over the Wynn Bulldogs.

The boys’ team is coached by Steven Baird and Micah Shelby.

“We are proud of you all, it brings great honor and distinction on the school and the community. This noble accomplishment is a testament to this team’s hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence,” Lynch said.
