Campbell travels to Bearden for round one of the Region 2-AAAA tourney Saturday at 7pm

KNOXVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell and Halls, for the third time this season, battled it out on the basketball court. The Cougars and Red Devils tussled on Lee Henson Court at Karns for the third place title in district 3-AAAA.

It was all Halls in the first quarter. The Red Devils led 24-16 after one.

In the second, the Orange-and-Blue outscored Halls 9-1 to knot things up at 25 at halftime.

Gavin Owens buried a three to start the third quarter to put the Cougars up 28-25.

Campbell continued to go on a 13-3 run to lead 38-28. The Orange-and-Blue dominated the Devils in the third quarter, leading 52-36 at the end of the quarter.

Campbell County hung on to win by twelve, 68-56 and take third place in the district 3-AAAA tournament.

The win also gives Campbell County its 17th win (against 14 losses), its highest win total since the 2016-2017 season when the Cougars finished 19 & 12 and 8 & 8 in the district.

Tops in scoring for the Cougars was Gavin Owens with an impressive 18 points. Will Croley, your Mills Door and More Player of the Game, along with Luke Browning both totaled 17 points. Gavin Cox finished with 12 points. Jake Hatmaker and Keegan Nelson both pitched in with two points.

The Cougars travel to Bearden for an elimination game in round one of the region 2-AAAA tournament.
