JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Cougar baseball squad, led by first year head coach Adam Ellison, welcomed the Roadrunners of Austin-East to Brown-Archer Field for Campbell County’s home opener.

In the past, the Orange-and-Blue had been on the wrong side of run-rules. On Friday, Campbell was on the winning side.

Cougar pitcher Dylan Ford (above) was incredibly solid on the mound, starting with a 1-2-3- first inning.

In the bottom half of the first, the Orange-and-Blue bats were on fire. Eight Cougars made it to the plate with Koalton Cupp starting the scoring with an RBI double.

Several walks, hit by pitches, and stolen bases later, the Cougars led 4-0 after one inning.

This pattern continued the remainder of the game. Dylan Ford was  dealing on the mound, and the Cougar offense led in part by  Keegan Nelson, Cooper McQuitty, and Rylan Rice, had no struggle putting up runs.

To get the last out of the fourth and all three in the fifth, Eli Lawson took to the mound for the Cougars, and he also handled the Roadrunners bats.

The Cougars cruised to a 14-3 win over Austin East in five innings. This win was first year head coach Adam Ellison’s first win on the Hill.

Koalton Cupp is your Mills Door and More Player of the game, with a total of three RBI’s on the day.

Up next, the Cougars host the Carter Hornets on Monday at Brown-Archer Field at 5:30 pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-03/08/2025-11AM)
