Panthers 53 Campbell 50

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Cougars hosted Powell on Friday night in a rematch of the contest at Powell  on January 7th, one that Campbell won 55-51.

Much like the game at Powell, was a close back-and-forth battle. The Orange-and-Blue held a narrow 7-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Powell jumped back in front at halftime, leading the Cougars 27-24.

At the end of third, the Panthers extended their lead to five, 39-34; and in the fourth, Powell led by as many as eight.

The Cougars clawed back. However, it wasn’t enough. Powell left Brown Gym with a 53-50 victory.

Gavin Owens, for the second straight game, was the top scorer with 11 points. Luke Browning finished right behind him with 10 points. Gavin Cox totaled nine points. Keegan Nelson scored six, and Jake Hatmaker rounded out the scorebook with four points.

Up next for the Cougars is another home game. This time, it’s Halls. The Red Devils and Cougars tilt at 7:30 pm on Tuesday over the WLAF Doyle’s Tire Sports Network which consists of AM 1450, FM 100.9, Alexa on your Amazon enabled devices, WLAF-TV 1089, 1450wlaf.com, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.
