Campbell plays 5 & 0 Gibbs on the Eagles home turf tonight at seven. WATCH over WLAF.

A good portion of Thursday practices is devoted to special teams. Rylan Sanders kicks a field goal from the hold of Paul Stassek yesterday afternoon.
JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell comes into Friday’s game with Gibbs after a Saturday afternoon win at Gray over Daniel Boone. Gibbs enters its home game against the Cougars following an open date. Campbell is 2 & 4 while the Eagles are 5 & 0.
The Cougars are taking shape where Head Coach Mark Pemberton’s philosophy is concerned, run the ball, control the clock, play great defense and win. That was the order of the day on Saturday as Campbell rushed for more than 350 yards and owned time of possession. The Cougar defense held Boone at bay until giving up a couple of second half touchdowns.
“Gibbs is a team that runs it well, and then they’ll spread it out and throw on you,” said Pemberton. “We’re going into a hornet’s nest, but I wouldn’t want it any other way,” said the veteran coach.
Pemberton has great respect and a special friendship with Gibbs Head Coach Brad Turner. Turner played in the Catholic Youth Football League when Pemberton was Catholic High’s head football coach. “He’s a wonderful young man, and he is a great football coach,” said Pemberton.
The teams have one common opponent in Halls. Halls blanked Campbell 41-0 to open the season while the next week Gibbs nipped its cross county rival 28-22. That serves as Gibbs closest game of the year winning its four other games by an average of 38 points.
The Eagles and the Cougars face off Friday at 7pm with Les Martin, Brent Allen and Josh Parker sending you live coverage beginning at 6:30pm over the 10 WLAF media outlets, the WLAF Doyle’s Tire Sports Network.
