JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Friday night’s matchup between the Campbell County Cougars and Cherokee Chiefs was one of the more physical battles the Cougars have seen in quite some time. 

Campbell County received the ball to start the game but handed the ball right back to Cherokee. To start the game, QB Silas Weaver threw his first and only interception of the game to set up a Cherokee touchdown. 

The ensuing possession did not do the Cougars any favors as the Chiefs defense stood strong to force a punt and put the ball in the end zone once more to make the score 14-0. 

Braydon Graham carried the Cougars to their first touchdown of the game to make the score 21-7. 

With time winding down in the second quarter, the Chiefs returned a punt all the way to the end zone to go into halftime leading 35-7.

The Cougars passing game finally got rolling in the second half as Silas Weaver connected with Sam Sexton to chop into the lead to make the score 42-14.

After giving up another touchdown to the Chiefs, Braydon Graham took charge and kept driving the Cougars down the field. Graham plunged in for his second touchdown of the day to make the score 48-21.

The run defense proved to be a challenge for the Cougars once again after the Cherokee run game drove the ball down the field to put the ball in the end zone on a 21 yard run to go up 55-21.

On the final offensive drive of the game, Silas Weaver was able to open up the passing game and connect once again with Sam Sexton from 19 yards out to get his second passing touchdown, as well as Sexton’s second receiving touchdown of the night. 

With time winding down in the game, Cherokee carried the ball into the end zone one more time to finish the game 62-28.
