Owens name is etched in Campbell record book

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Gavin Owens will go down in the record books at Campbell County High School. The Cougar running back holds the single-game rushing touchdown record (6), and the season rushing touchdown record (19). On Thursday, he put pen-to-the-paper and signed with the Kentucky Christian University Knights of Grayson, Kentucky.

The signing ceremony began with Athletic Directors Ryan Browning and Olivia Lobertini praising Owens for his accomplishments. “Gavin will be an ambassador for Campbell County High School, and we are extremely proud of that,” said Lobertini.

Interim Head Football Coach Taylor Ownbey

Also, interim head football coach Taylor Ownbey and head basketball coach Ernie Mac Clawson had nothing but high praise for G-O, the name he is known by his friends.

Ownbey was impressed with Gavin’s work ethic, and Clawson was very proud of Owens’s strong Christian testimony.

Gavin Owens plans to major in sports management at KCU and hopes to one day be an athletic director or “possibly even a coach.”

He chose Kentucky Christian because he really enjoyed the atmosphere and the folks involved with the University.
