Call of a fire at the Transfer Station came in to Central Dispatch at 9:14am Tuesday

Tuesday’s fire at the Transfer Station appears to be as bad or worse than the August 2024 fire.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service and the Caryville Volunteer Fire Department are battling a fire at the Convenience Center on Towe String Road at this hour. The Transfer Station caught fire just after 9am Tuesday, according to officials.

The entire center is completely closed for the rest of the day, according to Todd Hatmaker with the Towe String Road Convenience Center.

Patrons are having to be turned away from the center due to the fire.

The Transfer Station is going to close on Friday for construction and repairs from the fire it suffered in August of 2024. The project is expected to take the better part of a month to complete.
