JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Commission approved several resolutions at its Monday evening meeting, including a resolution asking the state to not repeal the Jackson law as recommended by the Legislative affairs committee.
Another resolution amended the 2026 legislative agenda to include language opposing the general assembly repealing the Jackson Law, as recommended by the Legislative Affairs Committee.
The third resolution that was approved requested disc golf at Cove Lake State Park.
In other business, Commissioner Rusty Orick made a motion to pay the Equalization Board $60 a meeting. According to Orick, it is not an increase,” it’s just paying what is owed to these individuals. It was failed to be turned in for what time they had spent on the Equalization Board,” Orick said.
Orick also made a motion for the funding provided by Campbell County to the Stoney Fork Fire Department to remain frozen until the department meets all its regulations.
“They met last Wednesday and voted in a board of seven new directors. I talked to the comptroller Friday, and they were glad they had done that quickly, so they are moving forward and will be back into the business as soon as possible,” Orick said.
Commissioner Chairman Johnny Bruce thanked commissioners for going to that meeting on Wednesday.
“It’s good that community knows the commission is there to support them, “Bruce said.
