LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- At Tuesday afternoon’s LaFollette City Council meeting, promotions were the bulk of the agenda.
Promotions approved, beginning with the fire department, were Joey Gilbert to a full time lieutenant, and Ernie Ivey to full time codes officer. Promotions for the police department are James Matthew Blake Douglas to a full time patrolman, promoting Kayla Satkowski to a full-time dispatcher, promoting Alisha Bowlin to a full-time police clerk, promoting Dillion Alan Marney to a full time sergeant, and Joseph Aaron Hicks to a full time sergeant. The final promotion discussed was for the street department promoting Steve Goins to a full time operator, and Ethan Metcalf to a full time operator. All promotions become effective on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
In administrative matters, a list of surplus equipment was approved. The council approved advertising for a request of qualifications for the LaFollette Regional Planning Commission members.
At last week’s monthly workshop, the council discussed the Juneteenth holiday, which is a federal holiday. Currently the City of LaFollette works this holiday. The item was on the agenda for a vote, however Councilman Mark Hoskins made a motion to table the item followed by a second from Councilman Stephanie Solomon. Hoskins would like more details on the topic before the council moves forward.
