The Fund will award a $2,000 scholarship in honor of long-time educator and running enthusiast, Clarence Lowe

JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF)- The Campbell County High School Relief Fund (CCHSRF) will once again allow you to conquer Campbell County’s most prominent terrain feature. A challenging course, here is your chance to say you made it to the top of Eagle Bluff. Please put Saturday, May the 3rd, 8:30 AM, on your calendar. The event starts and ends at the vacant lot to the rear and north of the Eagle Mart at 3030 Appalachian Highway, Jacksboro.

Starting on Eagle Bluff Road, you will head towards the mountain. In time, you will turn right and take the gravel road and a series of three switchbacks to the trail that leads to the top of Eagle Bluff.  This spot is referred to as America’s most scenic turnaround point.  After posing for a photo, you will turn around head down the hill to the finish line. You will cover a course that measures just over four miles and climb 930 feet in elevation. The next time you drive along the four lane and look up at the mountain, you can say, “I conquered the Bluff!”

The proceeds from this event will fund future CCHS scholarships. Since 2006, the Fund has awarded forty-eight college scholarships totaling $72,000. In May, the Fund will award an additional $8,000 at the CCHS Senior Awards Night. This year the Fund will award a $2,000 scholarship in honor of long-time educator and running enthusiast, Clarence Lowe.  With your generosity, this amount will continue to grow.

In the words of race committee member, Ramsey Bloy, “This isn’t your typical Cove Lake State Park 5K. This event goes a step further.  It is a great way to challenge yourself, support a great cause, and be around good people, and of course, conquer the bluff!”

Total Race Solutions is administering the race. Awards will be presented in 17 Categories.

You may register here online.

The fee is $30. CCHS students may complete the course at no charge.  Not interested in racing? You may still register online and choose the “Sleeping but Supporting” option. Your donation will fund Campbell County’s next generation of leaders.
