Catherine M. Abernathy, age 79, of LaFollette, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at North Knoxville Medical Center.  She was born on July 28, 1945, to late Claude Eacret and Edith “Bell” Eacret. Catherine was a loving wife of 48 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and community mother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and dogs. She also enjoyed road trips, which she took every time she could.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Micheal Dale Abernathy; brothers Art, Dick, and Gene Eacret; sisters Flo Cunningham, Pearl Hutts, Marilyn Scott, Pat Kirby, and Janet Murphy; and grandson Randall McGlade.

Catherine is survived by her sons, David Lee McGlade of LaFollette, Michael McGlade of Caryville, James Dale Abernathy of Indiana, Stephen McGlade of LaFollette, and Brian McGlade of Indiana; daughter Joyce Ann Douglas of LaFollette; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, with services conducted by the family to follow at 12:00 PM.
