JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Campbell United, Campbell County’s anti-drug coalition, met on Thursday at noon at TCAT.

Coalition members discussed having a coalition meeting in Jellico.

Director Charlsa Honeycutt (top photo) asked for feedback from other coalition members.

Coalition co-organizer Trent Coffey, who is also the director of the coalition in Scott County, suggested having an outreach of the coalition in Jellico.

“I know it’s hard for you all to go up there and hard for them to come down here; we thought about opening up Campbell United, not having a different division, but having a separate one, but quarterly coming together and trying to build up in that community,” Coffey said.

Several Campbell United members said they had been approached by Jellico community members asking if they ever met in that community.

Lisa Boshears with Community Health of East Tennessee suggested a partnership with a subcommittee of the Health Council called Campbell Get Fit. It meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 2pm at the Jellico Library. Boshears said that the council planned on having a Health Resource Fair in June in Jellico and suggested that Campbell United could possibly participate in that event.

Coffey said that was a great idea and that the coalition would begin to “lay the groundwork” on how to expand into Jellico.

Assistant Director Kaylee Queener said the coalition was still trying to get its Facebook page to “grow as much as possible” and asked those interested to “check it out and invite friends.”

The next Campbell United meeting is Thursday, June 12 at noon at Roane State Community College. Organizers encourage community leaders, citizens, nonprofits, organizations, and others to join! (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-05/09/2025-6AM)
