JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – On Wednesday, Campbell County Cougar Luke Browning made his commitment to Bryan College official by signing to play basketball for the Lions.

Browning, known for his height, athleticism, and high-flying dunks on the basketball court, was joined by his family, friends, administrators, coaches, and teammates for Wednesday’s signing ceremony at CCHS.

Bryan is an NAIA school located approximately an hour north of Chattanooga in the historic town of Dayton.

Sports run in the Browning family. Luke’s dad, Ryan, is the co-athletic director at CCHS, and was a standout baseball star at Tennessee Tech. His mom, Jill Cox Browning, is a legend as a CC Basketball Lady Cougar and played at the University of the Cumberlands. Luke’s sister, Cora, played basketball at CC and is currently playing college ball at Milligan University.

CCHS Co-Athletic Director Olivia Lobertini began the signing ceremony by praising Luke for his accomplishments in his four years at Campbell County. She said that he always “puts his studies first. He knows what’s important, and he always and puts his faith before everything.”

Head Basketball Coach Ernie Mac Clawson also had nothing but positive things to say about Luke. “I’ve never seen a kid improve in one year like Luke has,” said Clawson. “He’s really put in the work and it showed.” Most importantly, Coach Clawson was proud of the man that Browning has become.

While at Bryan, Browning is still undecided on his intended course of study, but he really enjoyed the atmosphere at Bryan. He said that it felt like “the best place to go play.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 5-8-2025 6AM)
