JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Board of Education meets in its date-changed meeting on Tuesday, today, at 6pm at the Campbell County Courthouse.  Electing a chairman and vice chair for the board was at the top of the agenda at the September meeting, and it will be again Tuesday.  That’s because neither was elected.

At last month’s meeting, Board of Education member Crystal Creekmore nominated Jeffrey Miller and Josh James nominated Randy Heatherly.  Votes were split evenly for Miller and Heatherly, causing neither nomination to pass.

Senior BOE member Johnny Byrge, a former chairman of the school board, is the chairman until a chairman is elected at tomorrow evening’s meeting.

School bus owner Marty Jackson, who has 13 routes, addressed the BOE last month requesting an extra $100 a week for his bus drivers, from $400 a week to $500.  Chairman Johnny Byrge said he would look into the matter.  Jackson is scheduled to appear before the BOE at Tuesday’s meeting.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/16/2023-6AM)
