School security cameras to play larger role in the event of a qualifying school emergency

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday evening, the Campbell County Board of Education approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Campbell 911 Center to enable the dispatch team access to a school’s security camera system in the event of a qualifying school emergency. 

BOE member Lisa Fields made the motion on Tuesday night, which was seconded by Ryne Cummins. The motion passed unanimously with no discussion.

The MOU provides access for 911 operators to see live views through a school’s security camera system during in the case of an emergency occurring on school property that threatens life, bodily harm or significant damage to property.

Also unanimously approved on Tuesday was a memorandum of understanding between the school system and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department regarding the School Resource Officer Program in county schools. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/11/2024-6AM)
