Body found in a car in Caryville Dollar General parking lot

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- A Jacksboro man was found deceased in his vehicle at the Dollar General Parking lot in Caryville this morning.
According to Caryville Police Chief Freddie Stagnolia, a male subject identified as Robert McCoy, age 40, of Jacksboro, “passed away in his vehicle” at the Dollar General in Caryville.”
The incident is still under investigation until toxicology results are returned, according to Stagnolia, but no foul play is suspected. The call came in to Central Dispatch at 8:20am Wednesday.
“We can say it is not a suspicious death and no foul play is suspected in the death, but we have to wait for toxicology results; until then, it is an active investigation,” Stagnolia said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/14/2024-5PM)

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF)- A massive wreck scene at 2am on I-75 south south of Rocky Top, a 5:30am multi-vehicle wreck on the four lane at Elkins Road at Caryville and then a body found in a car in the parking lot of a Caryville business at 8:20am. It has been an active start to the first half of Wednesday, and that’s not to mention the crippling traffic back up resulting from the interstate crash.

The body of a male was found inside a parked car in the Dollar General Store parking lot along McGhee Blvd. in Caryville. The man was pronounced dead the scene, according to officials.
