The approval of the agenda failed in a 5 to 7 vote on Monday

Campbell County Board of Education budget talks stalled on Monday afternoon for lack of approval of the agenda.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Budget talks that were supposed to continue on Monday afternoon for the Campbell County Board of Education stalled for lack of approval of the agenda. 

The board was supposed to discuss the 142 federal projects fund and the 143 cental cafeteria fund budgets. However after a short five minute meeting, the approval of the agenda failed in a 5 to 7 vote. Board members Brandon Johnson, Lisa Fields and Jeffrey Miller were absent from the meeting. When the agenda was put to a vote, board members Randy Heatherly and Brent Lester voted no, with board members Crystal Creekmore, Ryne Cummins, Sharon Ridenour, Jamie Wheeler and Ronnie Lasley voting yes.

According to board attorney Dail Cantrell, it takes six votes to proceed.  After that failed, a motion to recess the meeting until Tuesday was approved. 

Budget talks will resume on Tuesday (today) in the lower court room at the courthouse at 5:30pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-04/28/2026-6AM)
