Small division basketball champions and cheerleaders, retired teachers attend BOE meeting

At its Tuesday meeting, the Campbell County Board of Education recognized the Wynn Elementary School girls’ basketball team and Jellico Elementary School boys’ basketball team, along with cheerleaders from both schools for their small team division basketball championships.
Jellico cheerleaders were recognized first.
“These students have faithfully encouraged their teams, energized the crowd and modeled school spirit at every game and event. Their commitment, positive attitude and hard work behind the scenes helped make every athlete at Jellico Elementary a success,” said Assistant School Director Suzanne Crumley.
Next up for recognition was the Jellico Boys’ Basketball team as small division grand champions with an 8-0 undefeated score.
“These student athletes demonstrated outstanding skill, perseverance in sportsmanship throughout their season, representing their school and community with pride. We congratulate the team, their coaches and families for this well-earned championship 8 and 0 undefeated,” Crumley said.
The Wynn Girl’s Basketball Team and cheerleaders were also recognized on Tuesday for small division championships.
First up recognized were the Wynn Girl’s basketball team and their 8- and 0 undefeated season.
“This was a historic accomplishment for Wynn. The team has shown dedication, teamwork and a competitive spirit that reflects the best of Campbell County Schools. We celebrate their hard work, their coach’s leadership and the support of their families in achieving this championship season,” Crumley said.
Wynn cheerleaders were also recognized.
“Their enthusiasm, discipline and teamwork created an atmosphere of encouragement and pride for their fellow students and athletes. We are grateful for the way they represent Wynn Elementary and Campbell County Schools with energy and excellence,” Crumley said.
Retirees for 2024-2025 were also recognized at Tuesday’s BOE meeting.
