CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- Educators make a difference in students’ lives every day. For many students, having a school employee who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher, or school employee who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hardworking educators with a weekly feature.
This week’s featured educator is Andy Baird. Baird teaches carpentry and construction at Campbell County High School and is in his first year as an educator.

A “seasoned construction professional with 20 years of experience,” Baird “took a leap of faith this year and applied for the CTE Carpentry teacher position at CCHS to empower the next generation through skilled construction training.”
Baird is from Campbell County and has lived here his whole life.
“I am a proud graduate of Campbell County High School class of 04. I married my high school sweetheart who is my best friend and a 15-year veteran teacher in the county. We have three beautiful little girls who keep us busy,” Baird said.
He gives credit to his wife as his inspiration to teach.
“My wife inspired me as a teacher and ignited a love for learning and working with the youth in Campbell County,” Baird said.
When he’s not teaching Baird is at church as he is an ordained Baptist minister.
“I also coach the middle school girls’ soccer team and assistant with the boy’s high school soccer team. Between those things, working, and teaching, I don’t have much time for anything else. When I do have time, you find me in woods deer hunting!” Baid said.
He shared that what he “loves most about his job is instilling a love and skills for construction in the youth and upcoming industry workers of Campbell County.”
Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros. To nominate a teacher for teacher of the week honors, please send your nomination to wlaf@1450wlaf.com.
