LAFOLLETTE, N (WLAF)- We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute one of our hard working educators with a weekly feature. Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation.
This week’s featured teacher is Amanda Jeffries. She teaches special education at LaFollette Middle School and has been an educator for seven years.

Jeffries is a 2011 graduate of Campbell County High School and a 2017 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
“I married my high school sweetheart, and we have two precious girls. I enjoy camping, going to Cades Cove, spending time with my family and attending church,” Jeffries said.
She is currently the Special Education CDC teacher at LaFollette Middle School. Her love of learning and children led her into the teaching profession, but it was in college she learned she wanted to teach special education.
“I have been teaching for seven years. I became a teacher because of my love for school, learning and kids. While I was attending college I began to substitute teach, and that is when I had my first experience in special education,” Jeffries said.
Jeffries also said she wanted to say thank you to fellow teacher “Tabitha Ivey and her family who helped me from day one in my teaching journey.”

Jeffries said her favorite part of the job is “watching how the students support and encourage one another.”
Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
