JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- Pads were popping as linemen worked out in the east end zone during Tuesday’s practice all the while the secondary and linebackers practiced at midfield. Preparations continue as Campbell readies to wrap up its regular season on Friday at home with Oak Ridge, the top team in Region 3 5-A.
Campbell is missing the playoffs this season making Friday’s game with Oak Ridge a playoff, championship and bowl game all wrapped into one. “We want to send our seniors out with a win hopefully. That’s what we’re aiming at to try to give them a really good memory,” said Head Coach Mark Pemberton.
“This season hasn’t gone the way we wanted it to go this year, but beating Oak Ridge would sure make it feel a little bit better,” said Pemberton. This is our championship game right here, Pemberton adds.
The veteran coach places Oak Ridge (5-4, 3 & 0) right up there at the top. It’s one of the best we’ve seen, if not the best the Cougars have faced, according to Pemberton. Campbell is 2 & 7 in all games and winless in the region though three contests.
